    The publishing rules in brief

    The checker is built on the Succes Grup editorial rules and on Romanian Law 148/2000 on advertising.

    Format

    A Word article (.docx), one file per article, with the links inserted directly in the text on the anchors you want. The image is sent separately as a JPG or PNG in landscape orientation, with the source credited or free of copyright.

    Timing

    Publication within 24 working hours of receiving compliant materials, Monday to Friday.

    Responsibility

    Whoever submits the article is fully responsible for the accuracy of the information and the legality of the content, including the rights to the texts and images.

    Not published

    Articles about illegal, immoral or legally prohibited activities; political content.

    Prohibited outright

    • disguised or subliminal advertising (paid “independent” reviews);
    • prescription medicines (Rx);
    • illegal substances, drugs or weapons;
    • tobacco products and e-cigarettes.

    Allowed with strict restrictions

    • adult content / gambling: only with a decent headline and image;
    • gambling: only operators licensed by the ONJN, no promotion of bonuses, and the mandatory warnings (addiction risk, no access under 18);
    • food supplements and cosmetics: no properties for treating or curing diseases (under ANPC and CNA requirements);
    • alcohol: no appeal to minors and no suggestion of improved performance;
    • financial services (credit, crypto, forex): clear risk and APR (DAE) clauses, no promises of getting rich quickly.

    Rejected forms

    • a paid article presented as “independent news”;
    • “the best in Romania”, “number one” or “guaranteed” without verifiable evidence;
    • false urgency (“last places”, “offer valid today only”);
    • medical claims (“cures”, “treats for sure”, “guaranteed weight loss”);
    • attacks on competitors; fake reviews or invented testimonials;
    • the image of a person without their consent; images used without a licence.

    Legal framework: Law 148/2000

    This Romanian advertising law prohibits subliminal advertising and advertising that offends human dignity, includes discrimination, harms image, honour or private life, exploits fear, or promotes goods or services sold illegally.

    What the tool checks

    The checker reads your advertorial and looks for wording that, in our experience of publishing sponsored content, often leads to rejection or to requests for changes. Matching ignores capital letters and accents, so “HURRY” and “hurry” are treated alike, while the highlighting is applied to your original text. The English rule set covers the same ground as the Romanian one, and the explanations refer to our publishing rules and to the Romanian advertising law.

    It looks for unsupported superlatives, guarantees of results, artificial urgency, medical claims, disguised advertising, attacks on competitors and restricted or prohibited topics: prescription medicines, tobacco and vapes, weapons, drugs, politics, gambling, alcohol and financial services. For gambling and finance it also checks whether the mandatory notices appear: the under-18 and addiction warnings, the investment risks or the APR.

    How to read the result

    • Red marks wording that usually does not get past the editors. Rephrase it or remove it.
    • Yellow marks something that may be accepted only under certain conditions, for example a superlative backed by a verifiable source.
    • The score starts at 100 and drops for each type of problem. If there is at least one red problem, the score cannot reach the green zone.

    The tool recognises words, not intentions. A correct text may receive a warning, and an ambiguous phrase may slip through. Treat the result as a checklist, not as a verdict.

    Habits that get an advertorial accepted first time round

    • Write for the reader: explain a problem, give selection criteria and only then present the product or service.
    • Replace promises with facts: instead of “guaranteed results”, describe what the customer actually receives and under what conditions.
    • Use figures only if you can demonstrate them, and name the source.
    • Keep a calm tone, without capitals or strings of exclamation marks.
    • Send the material in the requested format: a .docx file with the links on anchors, and the image separately with its rights cleared.

    Frequently asked questions

    Questions about compliance checker

    Does the check guarantee that my article will be published?

    No. The check is automatic and indicative: it looks for wording that is known to cause problems, but it does not understand the full context of your text. The final decision rests with the editorial team, who read every piece before publication.

    Is my text sent anywhere for analysis?

    No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. The text is not saved and is not sent to any server.

    Why do I get a warning for a word I used correctly?

    The tool looks for words and phrases, not for their meaning. For example, “secret weapon” may be a metaphor, and “treats” may correctly describe an authorised medical service. Read the explanation attached to each highlight and decide whether the wording needs to change.

    What should I do if my score is low?

    Start with the problems marked in red: rephrase superlatives that have no evidence, remove guarantees of results and false urgency, then review the warnings. The score updates automatically as you edit.

    Does the tool also check the article’s image?

    No, it analyses the text only. For the image, the rules ask for a JPG or PNG file in landscape orientation, with the source credited or a royalty-free image, and the consent of any person who appears in it.
